Green Pony Garden - Naturally Inspired

Visit and gather ideas at Green Pony Garden and Finnabar Farm this spring for a special Art and Garden Show and Sale featuring "Art Celebrating Nature ."  Proceeds will be donated to the North Carolina Therapeutic riding program active in our area.

Free and open to the public, this event will feature fresh works by local artists and a gardener - host Patricia Kiffney of Green Pony Garden.  Get a map and more.

Being part of the "Green Revolution" should be more than an aspiration.  It is a holistic approach to gardening that every person, you and I, can be part of with little effort and cost.  I have spent a lifetime creating gardens and landscapes all along the East Coast - from Upstate New York to the Piedmont of North Carolina.  For the last 30 years I have put ecological practices to work creating a working farm and gardens, without the use of pesticides and petro-chemicals, in the Chapel Hill, Durham, and central NC areas.

Organic gardening is not a new idea.  A holistic approach to working with the earth is shown in many poets' and philosophers' writings.  Virgil in "The Georgics, Book II" says "... but yet rotation lightens the labor; scorn not to soak the dry soil with fattening dung, nor to scatter grimy ashesover the exhausted lands."  I focus on "Genii Loci" - The Spirit of the Place.  Your garden should be part of the world around you and bring joy in each season.

As one modern-day ecological visionary, Buckminster Fuller put it, when working with our environment we should "make livingry, not weaponry."  Contact me and I can help you plan, create and maintain landscapes that respect the spirit of your space (seasons, soil and climate), while bringing pleasure year-round.  As first lady and beloved naturalist Lady Byrd Johnson said together we can "plant a shrub, plant a tree, beautify America.
